Canvas Messenger Bag M: The Work Bag for Commuting, the Office and Campus

Our messenger bag in size M is the first size that takes a laptop and documents together – which makes it the right choice for the daily commute. It offers approx. 9 litres of space, yet at 10 cm deep it stays flat against the body and opens as you walk. Made from hard-wearing Persenning canvas, crafted by hand in Kiel.

Laptop up to 14 inches, plus documents

With an internal width of approx. 35 cm and a height of 25 cm, the M takes a laptop up to 14 inches or a 13-inch iPad Pro, along with a notepad, a folder and the small items of the day. A4 documents fit lying flat. Because the bag is deliberately made without padding, we recommend a sleeve for your laptop – the canvas itself is tough, but a notebook appreciates the extra protection.

A work bag that does not look like one

The M covers the working day without the stiffness of a classic briefcase. Office in the morning, library at midday, groceries in the evening – the same bag, no repacking. The plain canvas is as much at home in a meeting as it is on a bicycle.

Access without taking it off

The hook-and-loop closure keeps the bag quick day to day: flap up, card or phone out, flap down – one-handed, on the move, without lifting the strap off your shoulder. That is the advantage a messenger bag holds over a backpack, and this closure uses it fully.

Open inner pocket across the full width

Inside the main compartment sits an open pocket spanning the full width, approx. 20 cm high. It is large enough for a tablet, a notebook or a document folder, and separates flat items from everything else – so nothing works its way between the pages of your papers.

Outer pocket for anything urgent

On the back panel sits another full-width pocket, approx. 20 cm high and closed with a hook-and-loop fastener. Your travel pass, notebook or phone is a second away while everything else stays in the main compartment. Worn on the shoulder, this pocket faces your body and is protected there.

A strap that adapts to your route

The 40 mm webbing strap adjusts smoothly up to approx. 160 cm. Set it short for the commute so the bag rests at your hip and does not swing forward while cycling; give it more length to wear over a coat. The 40 mm width spreads the weight broadly enough that the strap does not dig in even when the bag is full.

Persenning canvas, built for wind and weather

We work with Persenning canvas: water-repellent, extra UV-resistant and exceptionally tear-proof, because it has to hold up out on the water. For a daily commute that means a rain shower does the bag no harm, it keeps its shape, and a damp cloth is all it takes to clean it.

Configured individually

A selected range of colours is available for the main panel, while all remaining parts and the strap are combined freely from our full colour range. Understated for the office or with a clear accent – the combination takes shape in the configurator and ends up being yours.

More depth when you need it

If you regularly carry a charger, a lunch box and a water bottle, extra depth adds noticeable volume. We adjust it, for example from 10 to 15 cm – selectable directly in the configurator with the price updating immediately.

Every messenger bag is crafted by hand in our sailmaking workshop in Kiel. We build it to survive a great many commutes – from cutting the canvas to the final seam.
